The author of the project managed to create a harmonious, functional and aesthetically balanced space in which each detail corresponds to the inner world of its inhabitants

Designer Alexandra Ermilova chose a noble, dark color palette as the foundation — the interior was enveloped in deep chocolate tones that create an intimate, cocoon-like atmosphere. Yet the space doesn’t feel heavy: enlarged window openings, light decorative accents, and spot lighting allow the room to breathe.

The transformation of the interior began with a reimagining of the layout. The kitchen was moved to an insulated veranda, the former dining room became a multifunctional living area, and the old kitchen was converted into a master bedroom. The kitchen space was framed with a wooden structure, sealed with a wind- and moisture-resistant membrane, and clad in SyPly moisture-resistant construction-grade plywood — a reliable and eco-friendly material that provides a solid base for further finishing. In this former hallway, a fully functional kitchen zone was created, fitted with cabinetry made from Lamarty laminated chipboard. The facades in the “Odyssey” decor feature a wood texture with bluish-grey highlights, lending the kitchen a refined austerity. All surfaces are protected around the perimeter with plastic edging, and the integrated handles preserve the clean geometry of the design.

Adjacent to the kitchen, a compact and cozy bedroom was created, carefully zoned and featuring a soft, nearly built-in bed. The linen wardrobe was also made from Lamarty chipboard in the same dark chocolate “Odyssey” finish, and its mirrored doors visually expand the room. Partition walls were built from a timber frame clad in plywood and finished with gypsum board. Decorative plaster was applied using spontaneous spatula strokes, creating the texture of traditional mud walls and lending the space a handmade, tactile quality.

The living room combines several functional zones: a seating area with a sofa and custom-designed chairs, a dining area with a graceful metal-legged table, a home office nook, and a glass-fronted display cabinet. A standout feature here is the steel stove with panoramic heat-resistant glass and a firebox lined with fireclay — built into the corner, it merges seamlessly with the wall and becomes the glowing heart of the composition. The wood-paneled walls and ceiling were coated in a dark brown-black lacquer, preserving the natural grain and deepening the ambiance. This treatment created an enveloping, cozy atmosphere that is warm and subdued, yet balanced with lighter elements.

The workspace was placed by the window: a desk with beechwood legs, a comfortable chair, a bookshelf, a mirror, and a lamp form a bright and ergonomic area for focused work. In the dining zone, a large round table gathers the whole family, surrounded by velvety upholstered chairs and illuminated by a floating fabric lampshade.

Final touches brought the interior to life: a custom wall panel by Alexandra Ermilova added artistic rhythm, while white dishes in the glass cabinet, ceramic vases, and soft light accents brought in a breath of air and a playful dance of light.
