Syktyvkar Plywood Mill was pleased to welcome second-year design students from the Moscow State Stroganov Academy of Design and Applied Arts, who visited the mill accompanied by partners from REHAU and SPM Ltd. The guests were given a comprehensive tour of the entire production process, showcasing how wood is transformed into particleboard and plywood.

The plywood plant actively cooperates with Moscow University named after S. G. Stroganov, providing support in educational initiatives. One of the results of joint projects is the opening of a library of materials on the basis of the Department of Design, which significantly expands the possibilities students for training and practical work. Continuing our interaction, the plant happily welcomed a group of second-year design students who visited our plant to learn about production processes.

As part of the excursion, students became acquainted with the key stages of production, observing how wood is transformed into materials such as chipboard and plywood, acquiring a new life and purpose. Students saw all stages of wood processing, from the preparation of raw materials to finished products that find their use in furniture, interiors and construction projects. Future designers watched as advanced technology combined with wood craftsmanship transformed raw materials into products of the highest quality.

The presentation held after the excursion allowed us to delve deeper into the further stages of using slab products. The plant’s specialists told students how these materials become part of interiors, structures and projects, helping designers, architects and builders create modern and creative solutions. Particular attention was paid to projects that have already used SyPly plywood, as well as the advantages of laminated chipboard Lamarty. Guests were also shown the decors of the updated Lamarty collection, and shared the secrets of finding sources of inspiration for their creation.

A separate block of the program was devoted to the process of creating decorative films for chipboards, which was described by a company representative INTERPRINT is one of the plant’s key partners in the supply of melamine film. Students learned how unique prints for board materials are developed, inspiring designers for new projects. The visit left the students with vivid impressions and gave many ideas for future projects, where board materials from the Syktyvkar manufacturer could become an important part of their future design solutions.
